The Company
Vitacress Ltd has been responsible for the RAR Group's business in the fresh produce market (salads, tomatoes and fresh herbs) since 2010, encompassing the holdings of Vitacress salads, Wight Salads, Lighthorne Herbs and Van Heyningen Brothers.
 
The main business of Vitacress Salads is the production and maketing of ready-to-eat bagged salads. Acquired by RAR in 2008, it operates in UK, Portugal and Spain, having a total of about 750 hectares of farmland.
 
Wight Salads is a leading supplier of fresh tomatoes in the UK. Originally based in the Isle of Wight, were it has 27 hectares of glasshouses, the company also has a production unit in Portugal (Alcochete). It was acquired by the RAR Group in 2007.
 
In the fresh herbs market, Lighthorne Herbs, acquired in 2008, and Van Heyningen Brothers (VHB), acquired in 2010, are market leaders in the sector. In 2011 VHB will be responsible for all the fresh herbs busines, which will represent over 20% of the tournover of Vitacress Ltd.
