Originally a plantation of 0,4 hectares of watercress beds in Hampshire, England, Vitacress Salads Ltd. was launched in 1951 and is today one of the leading European producers, packers and distributors of washed, ready to eat baby leaf salads and other high quality vegetable specialities.

In 1961, Vitacress established a wholesale business in the United Kingdom, Vitacress Sales Ltd., which is still part of the group today.

In the 1980s, Iberian Salads Agricultura Limitada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vitacress, was founded in Portugal and has since become an important supplier of watercress and baby leaf salads.

In 2003, Vitacress established a joint venture in southern Spain to produce baby leaf salads for the winter season. At the same time, a modern packaging unit was inaugurated in Portugal to serve the Iberian Peninsula with washed, ready to eat salads.

In 2007, Vitacress pioneered the process of washing baby leaf salad leaves in pure spring water without the use of chemicals.

In 2008, the RAR Group acquired 100% control of the company.
